Why Do Multiple Domains Share One IP Address?

The internet would run out of IPv4 addresses very quickly if every website required its own dedicated IP. To solve this, web hosting technology evolved to support virtual hosting — the ability to serve hundreds or even thousands of different websites from a single server and IP address.
